Camping Medveja near Opatija

Submitted by | 8,376 views

Camping Medveja lies in the beautiful Medveja cove, just 8 km south from Opatija and 3 km south from Lovaran, at the foot of the mountain Ucka. The camp lies along the main coastal road. There is a nice long pebble beach opposite the road, which can be reached via a tunnel under the road. The sea in the cove is very suitable for swimming and water sports and in the summer season there are bodyguards to ensure the safety of the swimmers.

There are a variety of facilities available for water sports lovers such as wind surfing, sailing, waterskiing, scuba diving and pedal boat hire. You can choose between several restaurants and bars near the beach, as well as (grocery) shops and stalls selling fresh fruit and vegetables. There are also showers available at the beach. It must be mentioned that the beach has been commercialised over the past years (guests are strongly encouraged to rent sun beds and visit the restaurant) and this may not be to everyone’s liking. Behind the camp site there are beautiful forest-covered mountains that provide a great starting point for hiking, walking and mountain biking over the many mountain trails. The 1400m high mountain Ucka, with its rich vegetation and beautiful views, is also a very popular climbing destination. Camp Medveja lies close to the well known Lungomare, a beautiful 12km long cobblestone beachside promenade that extends from Opatija to Lovran. This walkway is undisturbed by traffic so it is a great way to enjoy a peaceful stroll or just to find a nice spot in the sun to sit down and enjoy the beautiful sea view. Via the Lungomare it is possible to walk to Opatija in about an hour. Opatija is a popular old town with a rich history as a health resort because of its mild climate and warm temperatures throughout the year. It is also famous for its beautiful parks and botanical gardens full of flowers and exotic plants.

Pitches and facilities at Autocamp Medveja:

Campsite Medveja covers a total size of 9 hectares. Caravans, motor homes and tents are welcome and the camp also offers bungalows, mobile homes and guests can rent a room or an apartment in Villa Medvejica. Camping Medveja offers 250 pitches sized from 90 to 110m². The pitches are divided over 3 terraces with different heights. There are pitches with their own electricity and water connection (you can choose between fresh and waste water) and pitches without their own connections. There is a motor home service point including gas service. Guests can choose between pitches on sunny locations or pitches with half shade or full shade. Guests can rent safes and fridges, there are two playgrounds for children and Wi-Fi internet access points. Guests are permitted to bring a pet, (motor) boat and barbeque (electric and gas only).

Sanitary facilities:

The camp has 3 basic sanitary blocks with toilets, showers, private wash cabins, washbasins, a baby changing room, washing up sinks and laundry sinks (all with hot and cold water) that have been adapted for disabled guests. There are also washing machines, tumble dryers and ironing facilities. A motor home waste station is also available.
